Print Solutions Collating machinery specialist Col-Tec has won a contract to supply Heidelberg with five new collators. A 30 year old model has made way for the latest generation Polar 115 N Plus. ‘We debated whether to switch to a bigger guillotine but we have a Kongsberg which can handle the large format point of sale work so the new Polar will be used to cut work from our litho presses. Print Solutions Fujifilm Europe has announced that, as a result of substantial increases in the cost of raw aluminium, it will be increasing the prices of its offset printing plates. The last 12 months has seen an increase of more than 20% in the Euro based cost of raw aluminium. Fujifilm has been working to improve internal efficiencies to try and absorb the impact of these raw material costs, but these process improvements have not been sufficient to avoid this action.
