Lots to see on the Focus Labels stand at Labelexpo

Packaging Solutions

Focus Labels will be showcasing a wide range of its technologies at Labelexpo (stand 7D25). The show will see live demonstrations of the very latest models from the company with servo and digital solutions at the forefront.

The company will show the dFlex, which incorporates the latest high speed full colour Konica Minolta inkjet technology into the existing Reflex servo press with in line UV flexo printhead, die cutting, slitting and rewinding. Visitors will be able to see high quality variable images, overprinted in perfect register with UV flexo ink, then converted and rewound – in a single pass with speeds up to 50 metres per minute.

The Reflex S Servo provides a comprehensive off line finishing solution. Focus will demonstrate the accuracy of its re-register system – even at speeds of over 100 metres per minute. The full rotary system incorporates flexo printing/coating, cold foil, laminating plus varnishing and die cutting facilities in either roll to roll, or roll to sheet applications.

The eFlex Platform provides a common base system for a new family of new Servo technology presses starting from the 330 mm wide e-Flex 330-1. All machines will carry twin servo drives for full independent control of the substrate and printed image. You are able to choose a variety of options for specific applications. The focus will be on rapid set ups, reducing waste and enhanced operator system control as well as reduced energy and running costs.

The LX range of equipment is the most advanced for cost effective production of printed textiles for garment labelling, decorative ribbon, apparel trim, elastics and heat transfers. These presses allow full colour and job changes in seconds with the patented ink cartridge systems, on run register and advance setting systems. Furthermore the versatility and selection of options ensures the machines can be used for a wide variety of application including dye sublimation.

The FS and RT range of slitter-rewinders offers the perfect solution for high speed slitting, rewinding and die cutting for all narrow web applications. The robust construction and small footprint makes for an invaluable finishing system, with flexible configurations which can be tailored to meet your requirements.

Finally, Platemate 2 is constructed from solid, machined side frames and utilises twin digital cameras with laboratory standard microscope lens for high magnification of the polymer plate. A precision engineered camera mounting and linear slide rail ensure that the cameras are not affected by vibration and so retain the factory calibration settings. LED lights are integrated into each camera, ensuring that light is balanced on both edges of the polymer plate, to prevent optical distortion. The images are then viewed on a hi-resolution colour LED monitor.

The system includes a micro adjustment screw for fine movement of the polymer plate position, to ensure that both extremes of the plate are accurately aligned. A height adjustment handle is used to accommodate different size print cylinders and to easily achieve the optimum height and perfect focus position.

A soft polymer plate clamp is used to hold the plate in position on the cylinder, without damaging the delicate polymer surface. Platemate 2 also includes an adhesive tape dispenser for easy application of double sided tape, avoiding creases and reducing the possibility of air bubbles when applying to the printing cylinder.
