Packaging Solutions

Last Bros in Cheshunt is benefitting from the installation of the modular and flexible hybrid digital inkjet d-Flex from Focus Label Machinery.

The group, which celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, has installed the new Focus d-Flex hybrid UV digital inkjet press into its Labels division.

The ‘One + One’ configuration, developed and manufactured by Focus Label Machinery, has the latest inkjet KM1800i printheads from Konica Minolta which are integrated into the d-Flex and can reach production speeds of up to 70 metres per minute.

Last Bros’ machine has been configured with two flexo stations, built-in lamination and rotary die cutting offering the flexibility of full print and converting in line.

Sales and marketing executive Dean Latchford said the installation will continue ‘a rebirth’ for the business.

‘The self-contained unit [the d-Flex] will augment and improve on our existing flexo machinery; this is a great step in the right direction for us and the technology will make us that much more competitive, said Dean.

James Thomas, business development and marketing manager for Focus, added: ‘This is a great installation for Focus and it was an enjoyable project as the customer was very open to new ideas.

‘The specification gives Last Bros absolute flexibility in the markets it serves and will consolidate and generate new business for them, we wish the company huge success.’

David Lee, managing director at Focus, also commented: ‘As a family run company that has been going now for over 35 years we are proud to have on board Last Bros as a partnership.

‘To be trading for 70 years and to be investing in new technology speaks volumes’.’
