Century Studios improves production efficiency with CMM Premier

Print Solutions

After conducting a production review, Century Studios chose to streamline throughput and expand capacity with a CCM Premier 92 guillotine from Terry Cooper Services.

The Nottingham creative operation that counts high street names such as DFS, Paul Smith and HSBC among its customer base, runs two HP Indigo presses.

After reviewing how to optimise output, the ability to complete larger sheets more efficiently and cost effectively was identified as a clear way to maximise production.

Director Wayne Salvin explained, ‘We could see that by finishing bigger sheets we would be able to manage more work and that in turn would help us expand capacity while still meeting tight turnaround times. When we looked at the numbers a bigger guillotine made absolute sense.’

The CCM Premier 92 is two sizes larger than Century Studio’s previous guillotine. It includes central lubrication for wear free bearings and longer intervals between servicing, large air side tables for easier paper handling, auto knife function for repeat cutting, and a larger diameter back guage spindle for faster back guage action.

Its deep clamp opening accepts more paper to reduce overall cutting time and infrared slim line light barriers. Safety is also enhanced with an optical cutting safety line. Enhanced features include programmability and memory storage.

Century Studios has a long standing relationship with Terry Cooper Services and as such Wayne was aware of the CCM Premier options before making the final choice. He said, ‘We knew and trusted Terry Cooper Services. We liked its ability to handle the sheet size plus its ease of set up and programmability.’
