Printers Superstore announces laser cutting event

Print Solutions

Printers Superstore is hosting a ‘Laser Cutting Open House’ at its Leeds showroom on Wednesday March 27. The event provides an opportunity for the company to showcase the Hans Gronhi LS340S sheetfed SRA3 laser die cutter.

Managing director Graham Moorby said, ‘Compared to other technologies, LC series machines can produce amazingly intricate jobs that are impossible to produce by any other method. They are quick to set up and do not require any cutting forms. so even simple tasks can be handled more efficiently. Run lengths can be as low as one copy.’

While many laser cutting machines have a flatbed design, the LC340S is a production sheetfed machine which will suit commercial printers of all types. ‘A major benefit of the LC machine is its twin lasers which ensure the sharpest dot, and keep cuts as perpendicular to the sheet as possible. Twin camera video camera capture allows for superb registration whether sheets are printed litho or digitally,’ said Graham.

LC machines can kiss cut to create products such as adhesive labels, and they can crease, perforate and etch into a surprising variety of substrates including leather, plastics, copper foils, aluminium and even wood. The potential to open up new niche markets for the LC user is huge.

‘The ability to instantly turn around printed jobs at run speeds of up to 2500 sheets per hour should also be a major attraction and help give cost savings through production efficiencies. There is no waiting for forms or dies to be made and no extra cost – these factors combine to make the LC series laser die cutters an interesting proposition for any progressive printer,’ added Graham.

The company expects to attract a diverse range of users from like label printers and greetings card manufacturers to more marketing-focused companies and specialist finishers. ‘Anyone looking for a unique and memorable way to finish their print and add value,’ Graham concluded.
