Datalase launches new certification scheme

Packaging Solutions

DataLase has launched a new certification scheme for printers and converters looking to ensure optimisation when applying its technology.

The new training and certification scheme will help supply chain partners understand the company’s laser reactive functional coating and ensure best practice is achieved in its implementation and management.

Printers/converters, coating suppliers and laser system providers will be able to seek accreditation under the new scheme once fully rolled out. From March 1, 2019, printers and converters can apply for certification, with specific schemes for coating and laser partners becoming available later in 2019.

The programme is designed to ensure the entire supply chain can meet the exacting needs and requirements of brands and co-packers in terms of print quality and value. At the same time, it will enable accredited partners to benchmark and create best practice around quality control processes, waste management, production efficiency and cost reduction.

Product manager at DataLase, Adam Slack, said: ‘DataLase is excited to launch its very own certification scheme for suppliers of its unique technology. The scheme will initially be open to printers and converters before being launched to coating and laser providers later this year.

‘The scheme enables partners using DataLase technology to be formally approved, in order to provide consistent coding and shipping traceability to the downstream supply chain, significantly reducing the potential for product recall and rework as a result of poor quality coding and marking. It will give brands high levels of assurance that they are receiving the very best solutions in terms of quality and overall equipment effectiveness from certified members.’

Certification includes an in-depth survey of ancillary press equipment to understand requirements for printing DataLase coatings, detailed recommendations regarding press set up in order to achieve optimum results, robust quality control process training and checks and advanced training opportunities for operators.

The two day training, delivered by DataLase at its UK headquarters, enables attendees to gain insight and expert knowledge of the processes involved in applying the company’s coatings on press, ensuring the highest quality coding and marking is always achieved.

Accredited partners will be audited yearly to maintain certification, this ensures continuity of best practice and high quality coding. Approved companies will benefit from using the certification logo in their marketing and will be featured on the new DataLase website.
