API to unveil luxury packaging trends at Packaging Innovations London

Packaging Solutions

Brand empowerment specialist API Group will launch its A/W 2020 S/S 2021 annual trends folio at this year’s Packaging Innovations London, revealing the four key creative packaging themes that will drive luxury packaging design in the year ahead.

Now in its fifth year, the API annual trends folio has become a highly anticipated and trusted resource for brand owners, packaging designers and printers. To identify the trends, API utilises its specialist creative and technical expertise, global network and international trends forecaster WGSN. The folio also showcases how the intelligent use of foils, laminates and holographics can complement the trends to empower brands to create an on-shelf identity that resonates with consumers.

To celebrate the fifth year of the trends folio and launch at Packaging Innovations London, API is sponsoring ‘Champagne Hour’ at the event and invites brand owners and packaging designers to stand A34 from 2 pm each day where trends curator David Peters will present the new trends. The folio has also had a complete re-design this year to commemorate its phenomenal success over the last five years.

Speaking ahead of the event, Peters, group creative development manager, said: ‘We are excited to launch the folio at Packaging Innovations London as it’s the perfect forum to reach key brand owners and packaging designers and allows us demonstrate how we can work with them to develop packaging solutions that deliver real impact on the shelf’.

Also on display on stand A34 will be API’s newly launched range of hot metallic foils. The CB Series, a new over printable hot foil, delivers a bright metallic reflective finish, while the added over-printability factor opens up a wide new spectrum of design possibilities. The UB Series hot foil is extremely effective on the porous, absorbent, more difficult substrates typically used for wines and spirits packaging, and continues to deliver that brilliant shine we have come to expect from API.
