Fuller Davies Printing & Mailing prepares for business growth with perfect binder investment

Suffolk general commercial printer Fuller Davies Printing & Mailing Ltd has invested in a Horizon BQ270V single clamp perfect binder to support new and existing business.

The commercial printing and mailing company produces high end catalogues and brochures. It runs a B1 Heidelberg litho press with InPress Control and a Kodak Nexpress digital press with long sheet and special finishes capability.

Managing director Neil Stones said, ‘We have been considering bringing perfect binding in-house for a while. After analysing our run lengths, we found our average binding run was 2000 or below so the timing felt right. We wanted an easy to use, quality binder that would give us the ability to turn perfect binding jobs around quickly. The BQ270V helps us to do just that.’

He continued, ‘After attending various demonstrations and comparing what was on the market we settled on Horizon, through IFS. Horizon is a highly respected manufacturer of quality equipment and talking to other users confirmed our feelings that this was the best option. We liked its simplicity and user friendly operation. The cover feeder and scorer were a must too. It has cutting edge glue technology and is also quick to start up and shut down which saves a lot of time.’

As for the impact the system is making, Neil said, ‘Being able to produce perfect binding inhouse easily has made our production more efficient and meant we can be more responsive. We have a couple of team members who are familiar with Horizon binders already and others are already very confident and really pleased with how well it runs.’
