Thirty local charities gathered to celebrate the receipt of their donation from Mercia Image Print’s ‘30 Days of Giving’ Campaign. Founded by entrepreneur and business owner Amanda Strong, to commemorate Mercia’s 30 years in business, the 30 Days of Giving Campaign brought together the whole Derby business community, during the thirty days of June, to raise £30,000 for 30 charities.

With donations ranging from £200 to £5000 all the charities benefitted and were delighted with the support and generosity of Mercia and the Derby businesses who supported the campaign.

Megan Patrick, from Derby County Community Trust, who received £5000 from the fund, admitted: ‘When Amanda first came to see us about raising some money we thought it sounded fabulous; when Amanda decided she would try to raise £30,000 in 30 days, for 30 charities, we thought it was a tall order – but she did it!’

Amanda commented, ‘With the support of the local business community we did it! I am still amazed that we managed to hit our target in 30 days, stress levels were high but worth every minute.’

At the end of the gala dinner finale, the fund had raised over £28,000 but local business man Pete Ellse, from Cosy Direct, pledged a final figure to take the sum over the incredible £30,000 milestone.

Representatives from the 30 charities who benefitted attended the cheque presentation. They included: Derby County Community Trust, Treetops Hospice Care, Children First Derby, Breakfast Club, Big C Little C, Sight Support Derbyshire, First Steps ED, Padley Group, Furthest from the Sea, Cricket Derbyshire Foundation, Derby Museum, Derby QUAD, YMCA Derbyshire, Safe & Sound, Me & Dee, Derby Mountain Rescue Team, Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity, Annabel's Angels, TwentyTwenty, Head High, Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre, Every Cloud, DEDA, Derbyshire Institute of Sport, Artcore, Derby City Mission, Women's Work (Derbyshire) Ltd, NWG, Rainbows, C.A.L.M

When asked whether Amanda would consider making this an annual fund raising event, she said: ‘I think it has proven to be such a success that it could definitely be an annual campaign, but perhaps I should let someone else run it next year.’
