Morgana introduces SquareFold trim module

Undoubtedly in these days of tight margins and ever more demanding customers, print needs to work harder and smarter than ever before. The all new Morgana SquareFold Trimmer (SFT) module is the perfect complement to any in-house print shop or high street print business looking to add value to a finished booklet.

The industry first Morgana SFT delivers two functions in one: booklet square back creation and trimming. Simply insert a stapled and folded booklet into the feeder, and out comes a professionally finished document, with a sharp square folded spine and neatly trimmed front edge.

Commenting on the introduction of this finishing solution, Ray Hillhouse, general manager, UK Operations, Plockmatic Group, said: ‘Whilst we have now incorporated our patented SquareFold technology into all of our market leading bookletmaking systems, we felt that there was still a need in the market for a free standing solution. The SFT unit is ideal for those smaller print operations that don’t produce the larger quantities that we normally come across to offer their customers this high quality finish that makes any booklet stand out from the crowd.

‘Short run booklets can easily be handfed into the SFT for these final finishing stages that can turn any run of the mill booklet into a publication that will really get noticed.’

Not all customers have access to a guillotine, or the time to use one for short run jobs.

The SFT module can also process booklets for bleed trimming book by book in an operator assisted process. Three-side trimmed booklets are now an option for the small print or office installations.

The module is equipped with the heavy duty SquareFold module, similar to that found on the larger Morgana SquareFold bookletmaking systems. This enables booklets made from a wide variety of paper stocks and sizes to have a perfectly formed square spine, giving the booklet that perfect bound look – as well as making the booklets easier to stack, all at a fraction of the cost.

The Morgana SFT has an impressive booklet range, taking product from A6 size through to A4 landscape books. Maximum booklet feed size is 320 x 310 mm. The machine can process up to fifty sheets of 80 g/m2 paper stock. Getting professional results from your existing staple and fold finisher has never been easier.
