Advanced Packaging invests in Baysek

Packaging Solutions

Baysek Machines & Engineering Ltd, the Gloucestershire based machinery manufacturer and supplier, has announced that it has installed a machine at Advanced Packaging Ltd, based in Newcastle-Under-Lyme, Staffordshire.

Carl Pender, director of Advanced Packaging, said: ‘We have always liked the Baysek die cutter and its simplicity of use and quick job change overs. Robert Jess from Baysek took us to see a machine in production and we immediately knew it was the machine for us. The huge benefit of having this machine is the nick free, multiple out die cuts which are perfect for our food packaging. On our previous machine the stripping on some jobs became more difficult and required additional and costly manual labour to strip the waste. Our new machine has eliminated this and we can now produce a lot more varied work and proactively acquire new business due to the machine’s substrate versatility and bigger sheet size compared to a traditional flatbed style machine. We saved a huge amount on labour cost due to the machine requiring only one operator, but we have also saved money on the cost of a stripping die as the machine only requires one die. It gives us great peace of mind knowing Baysek have engineering support and a stock hold inventory of spare parts and consumables in Gloucester. We would recommend Baysek to anyone who wants to increase their productivity and reduce labour cost and tooling cost.’

Robert Jess of Baysek added, ‘It was a real pleasure working with Carl and the Advanced team. We quickly identified the need for our machine to be incorporated as part of their ongoing business growth and strategy for diversifying in today’s ever changing marketplace and customer demand. Angel hair was an issue on their previous machine as they produce a lot of packaging in the food sector. Complexity of some jobs and the ability to strip effectively, couple with 45 to 60 minutes job change over on their previous flatbed machine now means their output and die cutting capacity has increased significantly, additionally a reduction in labour cost has naturally had a positive impact.’

The C170 automatic die cutter has a maximum sheet size of 1400 x 1700 mm with a maximum speed of 1800 sheets per hour. The Baysek die cutting method produces fully stripped nick/angel free, multiple out die cuts. The finished parts exit the machine, counted and stacked ready for shipping saving both time and additional labour cost as no further handling is required such as ‘breaking out’ or further ‘stripping’ unlike other die cutters on the market.

The C170 is capable of die cutting all grades of corrugated up to triple wall, solid board, foil/foam laminates as well as display board for the printing and display industries. The PLC is operator friendly with repeat job functionality, a step-stack feature and tie sheet inserter which is designed for bundles or smaller stacks. The C170 is CE marked and has enhanced safety features throughout and light guards making the machine one of the safest on the market. Average job changeover is 10 to 15 minutes and running the machine only requires one operator.

Baysek has hundreds of installations across the world, with dozens across the UK & Europe.
