Weerg has innovated again by expanding its machining range with the introduction of 316 stainless steel, one of the most versatile and requested materials.

For this stainless metal, the company that offers online CNC machining and 3D printing services, has established an exclusive production line at its headquarters in Gardigiano, near Venice.

The 316 steel, which joins the 39 carbon steel and C45 already present in the series, is moulded with the best tools from Sandvik, Hitachi, Emuge and Ceratizit in fully automated five axis continuous machining centres using anthropomorphic robots. In fact, the Weerg CNC department, one of a kind in Italy, consists of 10 Hermle C42U machining centres, each with two batteries of five units, and Mazak Integrex multitask lathes, the latest Smooth model, which guarantee the highest precision on the market. All production lines are constantly configured according to the highest quality protocols, in order to guarantee the best results even with the extremely fast delivery times that characterise Weerg's service. Speed and efficiency, combined with the practicality of use of the platform and the exclusive online estimate calculator, have always been the active founders of Weerg, which was created with the desire to bring simplicity, quality and punctuality to the mechanical and additive manufacturing sector.

‘Our research and development department is constantly working to expand the offer,’ explained Francesco Zanardo, CEO of Weerg. ‘Stainless steel in particular has been in high demand for a long time by our customers through all the communication channels through which we manage the constant dialogue with our clients. Thanks to its exceptional versatility, 316 stainless steel is suitable for a wide range of applications, ensuring fast yet high quality construction.’

Among its most notable features are excellent corrosion resistance, ease of cleaning, excellent hygienic coefficient and ease for processing and forging. In addition, 316 steel is not magnetised under full annealing conditions, which further extends its uses, which range from automotive to special machinery construction also for the food and beverage industry, to the construction of structural parts and pipes. Stainless steel can be used in the food sector, but also in kitchen and household utensils, beverage and food cans. The resistance to most corrosives makes it suitable for applications in the chemical industry, for components subject to corrosion and for use in severe working environments. In particular, it can be used in the construction of delicate instruments such as liquid gas tanks, heat exchangers, pollution control and fume extraction equipment.

‘Just a few weeks after its introduction, Weerg is already handling numerous stainless steel orders from both large companies and small design studios,’ continued Francesco. ‘Among the most requested processes today are plates, structural parts, supports, aesthetic components for the furniture and textile industry, components for the automotive and marine industry, as well as for the pneumatic and hydraulic industry.
