GM Finishing focuses on future with MobI 500

Print Solutions

GM Finishing has chosen a Mobi 500 from Renz to future proof its finishing capabilities.

The Nottingham operation was established in 2006 by managing director Gary Middleton. Today, it offers a full range of services including calendar, book and diary wire binding, automated padding and punching, sheet collation, bookletmaking, shrink wrapping, drilling and automated counting.

To ensure it remains at the forefront of industry trends it continuously monitors market changes so it can effectively embrace future opportunities.

‘The pressure on lead times and volumes has increased,’ stated Gary. ‘As such we are always looking for solutions that help us improve our service and complement our existing portfolio. We first looked at the Mobi when we went to Ipex. We then saw the system in operation at a printer and the operators said how happy they were to run it.

‘We were also just coming to the end of loan for a recent investment and we are always looking for the best ways to reinvest.’

He continued, ‘For us it has never been about the fastest, most expensive or biggest system. It has always been about flexibility. We have already seen that with the Mobi 500. It is being used to complement an existing order as it can handle 1¼ width wire. It will help us open up new markets. It is also very versatile and easy to run.’

The Renz Mobi 500 is a user friendly, flexible, semi-automatic ring wire binding machine for books, calendars and skip binding. It can handle different paper formats and oversized products up to 260 sheets. A touch screen aids a short set up process.

Gary added, ‘It has been running well since it went in. We expect it will pay for itself in three years.’
