CPI scales new heights with ColorStream solution

Print Solutions

CPI has installed a new Océ ColorStream 6700 Chroma roll to roll system.

A long term user of Océ VarioPrint technology and multiple Prisma workflows, CPI opted to reinvest with Canon to meet the increasing appetite for print on-demand and fuel operational expansion.

CPI Antony Rowe divisional general manager Martin Collyer said, ‘Canon has impressed us with its reliable and efficient technologies, and outstanding service. Since implementing Océ VarioPrint 6000 systems, we have increased our ability to produce high volumes of books in short timescales and remain agile in a constantly evolving market. So, Canon was the obvious choice when it came to exploring new ways of shortening the inventory cycle and bolstering capacity.

‘The Océ ColorStream 6700 Chroma has enabled us to adapt to the growing industry wide shift towards print on-demand – transferring 1.5 million more books to the inkjet platform – without incurring high costs for additional print units and managing complex operations. Integrating perfectly with the existing cut sheet systems, it has also allowed us to maintain flexibility for our customers by providing monochrome printing work while boosting colour production capacity.’

Committed to environmental protection, CPI uses FSC certified papers across all 17 of its factories. It is also dedicated to promoting waste recycling and invests in multiple reforestation programmes around the world.

CPI operates across seven different countries and currently employs a workforce of 2500 staff. As well as producing books and printed documents for leading publishing houses, it also serves the commercial print market, supporting agencies, brands, and retail.
