Zenith Group adds three Versafire digital presses from Heidelberg

Print Solutions

Three new Heidelberg Versafire digital presses have been bought by the Zenith Group. A Versafire EP and five colour Versafire EV have arrived at the Pontypool plant and the final Versafire EV, a four colour, will be installed there in the repro department for proofing work.

This battery of new digital presses replaces three other digital presses but join an existing Heidelberg Linoprint CV. They will give a huge boost to digital printing productivity and versatility. The Versafire EP is a production machine and the EVs offer value added, the five colour having the capability to produce white, clear toner or neons in addition to the CMYK and all the presses can run with the banner feeder for six page A4 products or four page landscape products.

The four colour Versafire CV will be used for proofing to reduce the current £3500 a month spend on proofing work.

John Mooney, group managing director, said: ‘By taking the Heidelberg digital presses we can run with the dedicated digital front end, have the advantage of the colour know how and use our Prinect software to output as easily to the digital presses as we can to the litho presses. Plus we trust the advice and support we receive from Heidelberg.’

The Zenith Print Group has invested heavily in the past 18 months on the commercial and packaging side of the business. It added its first long perfector, a B1 Speedmaster XL 106-8-P Push to Stop press; a hybrid (UV and conventional inks) Speedmaster XL 106-5+LX3, a B1 five colour with coater; a Stahlfolder BH56; its third Masterwork machine and second Promatrix model, a Promatrix 106FC (foiling and cutting) machine; and the first Promatrix foiling machine in the UK.
