Epson UK has announced it is the exclusive print and technology partner for photographer, Indira Flack’s new Great British Racing Drivers (GBRD) exhibition. The new photographic exhibition can be viewed at the recently opened Silverstone Experience – a new £20 million experiential and education centre focused on the British Motor Sports industry. GBRD features a collection of nearly 90 new portraits celebrating the lives and successes of the United Kingdom’s most inspirational and talented racing drivers from karting to F1 – past, present and future.

Indira Flack commented, ‘I am incredibly proud to have finally launched this exciting new collection. It is the result of many years work, travelling up and down the UK – photographing some of our most iconic sporting heroes and stars of the future. Each portrait was shot in a setting and location that both link to their individual motorsport story or illustrates their personalities ‘away from the track’, to show a character that is proud of, but not solely defined by the sport they love.’

Indira says all of these legends and rising stars of motorsport – from Stirling Moss to Lando Norris, Jenson Button to Jamie Chadwick – have been photographed many times throughout their careers and many more times since, so the idea was to take a new, creative approach to their portraits.

The key to this was to find new ways to accentuate their expressions and personality through the imaginative use of angles, lighting as well as dynamic colour management in the photographic print production process.

Indira added, ‘I hope when you stand back and look at the prints on show at the exhibition, they have all captured a genuinely unique aspect of some of the most celebrated sports people in the world. Epson’s technology and technical assistance in the photographic print production process was so very critical to achieving this, as I was able to seamlessly marry the purity of each captured shot and the final creative outcome I had for it my mind. We used an Epson SureColor P20000to print the photographs for the exhibition. The result is a portfolio that I am very proud of and reflects some of the best and most ambitious work I have done.’

The Epson SureColor P20000 combines new super fast printing speeds with the same superior quality, the SC‑P10000 and SC‑P20000 are ideal for creating accurate, precise large format photos, point of sale items, signage and much more. Using the latest camera controlled paper stabiliser, in conjunction with a new printhead, the SC‑P20000 delivers professional quality prints at high speeds. For outstanding colour reproduction, a new UltraChrome Pro 10 colour ink set consistently delivers fantastic looking prints. Blacks are also deeper and richer thanks to new high density photo and matte black inks.

The new printhead structure also means fewer vibrations, and more accurate ink droplets and dot placement. To ensure consistency without the need for expensive add-ons, the Epson Colour Calibration utility means users can easily manage their colour reproduction.

Nick White, business manager, Professional Graphics, Epson, said: ‘We are so very pleased to have been involved in a project of this calibre and commend Indira for such an ambitious undertaking. Indira has all the characteristics of a great Epson Ambassador and customer – someone who aims to ‘exceed their vision’ and is constantly pushing themselves to be more redefine their creativity without compromising on the quality of the end product in the process.’
