Kolbus Autobox launches BoxPrint BP500

Packaging Solutions

Renowned since 1979 for short run, quick set box makers, Kolbus Autobox has now launched the BoxPrint BP500, a flatbed, off line, full colour digital printer to fully complement its existing flexo and in line single colour digital print options.

Print resolution of 800 and 1600 dpi are achievable with water based inks that are fitted with two litre capacity CMYK ink tanks. An onboard high powered PC enables users to install variable data software and alternative RIP solutions for optimum flexibility.

Individual sheets can now be full colour printed prior to the subsequent box making process. Maximum sheet width is 1200 mm by unlimited length, with board grades from micro flute to double wall can be run.

A self cleaning system utilising vacuum and ionizing bar technology results in sheets being pre cleaned resulting in improved surface cleanliness and overall print quality. Unlike other similar off line full colour digital printers, the BoxPrint BP500 can be operated within the main box converting area without the need to house the machine in a separate, atmosphere controlled room.

Simon Needham, sales director at Kolbus Autobox, said: ‘We are excited to introduce the BoxPrint BP500 to enable sheet plants or packaging distributors the opportunity to easily and cost effectively add value to their short run box offering. It can be used for runs from just a few boxes up to several hundreds. It is the perfect complement to our existing machinery portfolio and is supported worldwide by the Kolbus network of sales and service offices and approved distributors.’

The BoxPrint BP500 will be running live demonstrations on the main Kolbus stand, hall 1/B45 at drupa 2020.
