Amcor has launched a partnership with Tajo, a Belgian youth charity that helps young people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds discover their talents and stay engaged in education. As part of the collaboration, Amcor will welcome students to its Innovation Centre Europe in Ghent for an annual innovation experience day.

Tajo’s mission is to broaden horizons for young people aged 10 to 18 by giving them access to inspiring, real world environments across many different industries. Through hands‑on workshops and mentoring, Tajo helps young people build confidence, explore future career paths and make informed educational choices to improve their life chances.

The new partnership gives young people an opportunity to experience science and technology in action. The Amcor Innovation Centre Europe is a collaborative space where the company works with its customers to co-create the future of packaging. Building on over 100 years of packaging excellence at its site in Ghent, the team helps the world’s renowned brands build a more sustainable future.

The latest innovation experience day, held in February 2026, welcomed 30 children for a full journey through the packaging development process. They took part in a creative workshop, turned their ideas into early prototypes in the Innovation Centre Europe’s labs, tested them on an industrial packaging line and reflected on how the experience shaped their ambitions.

Claudia van Egmond, managing director, Tajo, said:  ‘For over seven years, we have been working to give young people in Belgium better prospects and a brighter future. That means building resilience and offering experiences that inspire them to stay in education. Partnerships with global businesses like Amcor are central to that vision.’

Toon Coppejans, senior marketing innovation manager at Amcor Innovation Centre Europe, said: ‘It is a privilege to welcome these children into our Innovation Centre and show them what is possible when curiosity, science and creativity come together. They shared several inspiring ideas, and moments like these remind us why opening our doors and supporting our local community matters.’

Amcor recently affirmed its commitment to the Tajo programme with a €10,000 donation in October 2025 and looks forward to the next innovation experience day in 2027.
