Close Brothers Asset Finance has provided funding for Bell & Bain’s two new large format presses from Koenig & Bauer – an RA145 eight colour and RA145 four colour. These latest acquisitions follow a similar deal in 2019, and continues a long standing strong financial partnership between the companies.
Founded in 1831, Glasgow based Bell & Bain is one of the oldest independent book and journal printers and binders in the UK, and has been investing heavily over the last few years, including the acquisition of J Thompson Colour Printers in 2019.
Nick Aust, senior relationship manager at Close Brothers Asset Finance Finance’s Print division, said: ‘Despite the pandemic, Bell & Bain has remained very busy and the machines are already increasing capacity and will no doubt play a key role in meeting current and future demand.
‘Given our strong working relationship, it made sense for us to work together with them on acquiring these two new presses. The company knows what it wants to achieve, and has clear goals; being the financial partner continues to exciting, and dealing with the company remains a pleasure.’

Steve Docherty, chairman, Bell & Bain, said: ‘We bought the machines to make everyone’s lives easier – they are already saving a great deal of time, but we are in the very fortunate position of getting busier and busier.
‘To help us with our growth ambitions, we wanted to work with a funder who understands our business and is able to react quickly while also providing expert advice and offering deals that work for all parties.’
