Bösendorfer is one of the world's oldest and most revered piano manufacturers. The Viennese company has been manufacturing upright and grand pianos since 1828. Its high standards of quality, design and perfection in the construction of keyboard instruments is beautifully captured in the latest product catalogue. Printed on the luxurious Pergraphica design paper from Mondi Uncoated Fine Paper, the catalogue is a tactile delight. The paper’s subtly understated shading and sumptuous surface perfectly complement the elegance of Bösendorfer instruments.

The list of music from classical, jazz and pop music who play and have played on a Bösendorfer grand piano is impressive: Franz Liszt, Béla Bartók, Oscar Peterson, Peter Gabriel, Konstantin Wecker and Tori Amos, to name but a few. This is no coincidence. The company’s dedication to the craft of piano making and passion for music are focused on perfecting every precious detail of every Bösendorfer grand piano in up to 587 hours of master craftsmanship. The same philosophy has been applied when selecting paper for the core of the brand catalogue.
The piano manufacturer founded by Iganz Bösendorfer only produces a few hundred instruments each year. The quality and outstanding variety of sound as well as the pure, touching sound, which is typical of the Viennese sound tradition, are known worldwide. Especially in times of mass production, uniformity and standardisation, it is a special feature that craftsmen and women still make these legendary instruments exclusively by hand in Austria.

Bösendorfer's commitment to always creating the best possible product is also reflected in its branding. The best proof of this is the recently published, artistically designed product catalogue, in which several partners were involved, including Mondi.
The Vienna based agency Zündel Branding takes great pride in helping to share the story of one of Austria’s most iconic and historic brands. Through a refreshed visual identity and an internationally distributed catalogue, the brand has reaffirmed its position as a premium leader. The catalogue’s striking cover, inspired by an authentic gold pattern from the Vienna Secession –previously featured on the lid of a custom built concert grand piano, adds to its captivating appeal and underlines the Viennese heritage of Bösendorfer.
Soft, silky black combined with cool, metallic gold are characteristic elements of every Bösendorfer concert grand piano. Printing rich and intense black designs requires a truly premium paper surface, and Pergraphica meets this challenge with exemplary precision.
Vienna based print production agency, Lindenau Productions, has been implementing and monitoring print, graphic design, packaging design, final artwork, image processing and certified proofs for 30 years. ‘We have an extensive network of partners in Austria and abroad as well as comprehensive expertise in material procurement and print buying. We also have many years of experience with tenders and a high level of expertise in dealing with graphic designers, agencies and print shops,’ said founder and owner Alexander Lindenau. ‘We see ourselves as an interface between creatives and industry and want to help our customers realise their creative ideas. We always enjoy working with strong brands such as Bösendorfer, which we have counted among our customers for many years.’
The stunning catalogue spreads are LE-UV printed on Pergraphica Classic Rough 120 g/m², underlining the high contrast visuals and creating a velvety tactile experience for readers. The paper’s subtle shading perfectly expresses the beautiful, original colours of the photography. The paper excels in reproducing the rich black tones prevalent in piano photography. Perfection is in the details, right down to colour coordinated staples, to ensure complete harmony in this premium print project.
The most recent addition to the paper portfolio is a grammage perfectly suited to premium corporate publishing and luxury packaging projects – the 350 g/m² available for Pergraphica Classic Rough and Natural Rough. The exceptional folding and creasing properties of the paper make it an ideal choice for these applications.
Premium and sustainability go hand in hand. The uncoated, bright white premium design paper not only impresses with its outstanding quality, but also with its comprehensive sustainability profile. Since April 2021, all the papers have been produced with unavoidable CO₂ emissions compensated as standard. It also carries EU Ecolabel and FSC certification, which attests to sustainable forest management.
Mondi Uncoated Fine Paper has achieved Cradle to Cradle Certified at Bronze level with its entire range of own brands including Pergraphica. ‘At Mondi, we offer a uniquely broad range of premium and sustainable paper solutions that empower our customers to bring their creative visions to life.
