Camvac partners with Celanese to bring metallised cellulose acetate film to market

Packaging Solutions

Camvac, a leading supplier of metallised and transparent films and laminates, has joined with Celanese to create a sustainable decorative film for the board lamination market. This bio based, biodegradable and home compostable metallised cellulose acetate film is known as Cambrite Camvert.

Cambrite Camvert is a premium solution targeted at brands searching for an alternative to metallised polyester used for lamination to carton board.

The two companies have successfully collaborated on previous projects so Camvac is adept at process metallising Celanese acetate film. For Cambrite Camvert, the company selected Celanese’s Clarifoil film as the base material due to its highly aesthetic appeal combined with impressive performance and important bio credentials. Formulated with renewable high purity grade wood pulp, bio based Clarifoil film offers an excellent alternative to fossil oil based films. The wood pulp is sourced from PEFC accredited forestry that ensures trees grow naturally without genetic modification. These aspects were critical so a truly circular product could be created.

Camvac’s metallising expertise enables the company to use its patented technology to achieve a film which is genuinely challenging metPET aesthetically within the premium board lamination marketplace.

The company is exclusively supplying this film as a solution for board lamination applications to align with the principles of a circular economy.

Cambrite Camvert is available in stock widths of 740, 1040 and 1200 mm, 6000 metre roll length and either 76 or 152mm cores. Other widths and roll lengths are available upon request.
