Chester Medical Solutions partners with Bobst for new folder-gluing investment

Pharmaceutical packaging manufacturer and contract packer, Chester Medical Solutions, has added to its portfolio of Bobst assets to boost production capacity at its Deeside site in North Wales.

The company, which manufactures cartons and patient leaflets at the 60,000 square feet facility for the pharmaceutical, medical device and nutrition markets, has invested in a new Bobst folder-gluer to meet evolving customer demands.

Ronnie Delamar, site operations manager, said: ‘As a business we must adapt to customers’ changing needs. Currently, we are seeing customers ordering smaller volumes per job but more frequently. This requires us to think differently about our approach to manufacturing cartons to be as efficient as possible. Our new folder-gluer complements our existing conventional and digital printing capabilities, while at the same time enabling us to respond to requests for more complex packaging formats, for example internal fitments, by increasing our capacity across production lines.’

The folder-gluer brings the total number of Bobst machines on site to four, including an Expertfold 110 folder-gluer, Novacut 106 die-cutter and Evoline SP 102 die cutter. The Deeside site is PS9000 accredited and provides conventional and digitally printed packaging to customers.

We have found the team there to be very understanding of our needs, both in terms of sales and operations, and by working together we have been able to come up with the right solutions for our business at the right time.

The new folder-gluer can handle most carton styles and offers excellent consistency in production and quality. The machine is modular and flexible to meet changing market needs and operators benefit from its ease of setting and quick job changeovers.
