In celebrating a remarkable 150th anniversary this year, leading glass packaging company Croxsons has marked the occasion by completing a number of environmental initiatives, focused on its environmental impact. This includes committing to achieve carbon net zero as part of the company’s carbon reduction strategy and is already working towards this target.

One of the initiatives included funding the planting of 150,000 new trees during the year through Bristol based environmental services company Ecologi. Planting trees is proven to be one of the most effective tools to tackle the climate crisis, reportedly helping to undo over 30 years of carbon damage and keeping temperatures from rising above 1.5°C. The company currently sits in the top 40 of Ecologi’s tree planting leaderboard for businesses. Further to this, the other projects that Croxsons has chosen to be involved with meet 11 of the UN’s sustainable development goals, addressing challenges such as poverty, equality, economic growth and sustainable living with the oceans.

The company has also made a substantial investment in the environment by committing to reducing and offsetting the balance of its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions from this year, and it is in the process of working towards targets for Scope 3 emissions.

‘Alongside our continued and considerable pledge to charitable endeavours, which has seen us fund the building of classrooms in Malawi, our commitment to playing our part in addressing the challenges around climate change, both at home and further afield, test both ourselves and the wider industry,’ said CEO, Tim Croxson. ‘We can't do everything, but we must do something, and these activities are exactly that. We look forward to working with stakeholders, our supply chain and customers, so we can all play our part.’
