Fujifilm’s annual Global Innovation Print Awards programme gives the company’s production press owners worldwide an opportunity to showcase creative and technical excellence. Following last year's expansion of the awards, this year marks the second time the competition has welcomed submissions from across the world. Out of a total of 170 submissions received from 14 countries around the world, 36 winners were selected – including two from Europe.
Bremen based Wegner GmbH was one of these European award winners. Founded in 1985, the company offers high quality digital printing for a wide range of print, including books, brochures, booklets, and calendars. The company is a long standing Fujifilm customer, having initially invested in the flagship B2 inkjet press, the Jet Press 720S, in 2015 to support growing digital demand, and following impressive results, upgraded to the Jet Press 750S in August 2019, from where it has continued to see an increase in output, production speeds and flexibility. Additionally, the company installed the Revoria PC1120 in March 2022, initially to print digitally produced products using special effects.
Using both the Revoria and the Jet Press, Wegner won three awards this year in the following categories: book, calendar and swatch. This follows success in the same awards last year, when it became the inaugural winner of the ‘Best Innovation Award 2024 Global’, for its TWE Design Book created using the Revoria, Jet Press and Acuity Select 48.
Henning Rose, CEO, Wegner GmbH, commented: ‘We are delighted to have participated in this competition and proud to win these awards. Fujifilm is a long standing partner for us, and its machines have increased our capabilities. We can bring our customers' ideas to life successfully. Winning an award like this is truly rewarding and shows how we have grown over the years with this partnership.’
Impress Print Services, a family owned business in the UK, is also a winner in three award categories – direct mail, swatch and magazine.
In 2023, the company was in search of a machine that could help it expand capabilities and improve operational efficiency. The company installed the Jet Press 750S high speed model, Revoria PC1120 and Revoria E1 Series. The investments allowed Impress to expand into new sectors, supporting in-house litho production, while remaining sustainable. Environmental credentials were a key driver in the decision to invest in Fujifilm’s solutions.
Michael Kille, managing director, Impress Print Services, commented: ‘We are thrilled to be crowned winners in three different categories. This win shows how much of an impact the Fujifilm machines have had on our work and our customers. Since the sales and installation process, Fujifilm has been supportive, and we knew that we were building a strong relationship with them. The partnership has helped us run our business more effectively and deliver strong results, fulfilling our customers' needs.’
Graham Leeson, head of communications and sales enablement at Fujifilm Europe, commented: ‘We are proud to celebrate the achievements of this year’s Innovation Print Award winners. The competition showcases how users of Fujifilm print solutions push the boundaries of their creativity and showcase innovative print techniques. We are committed to innovation and collaboration. These winners show how a strong partnership with a company with cutting edge technologies drives success in the world of print. Fujifilm is unique in the market in offering the best of both toner and inkjet solutions, and we are delighted to see how businesses are redefining the possibilities of print using our solutions.’
