Grenadier Packaging has appointed James Slack as general manager of the Trenton site, its specialist cartonboard packaging business based in St Neots, Cambridgeshire.

James joins from MCC Label, where he was commercial operations director for the EMEA market. His experience combining commercial leadership and hands-on site management gives him a clear understanding of what brand owners need from a packaging partner, and what it takes to deliver it consistently on the production floor.

As general manager, James will take overall responsibility for Grenadier Trenton, leading the team across operations, customer service and commercial performance. His remit includes strengthening relationships with existing customers, further development of operational processes and making sure the site's capabilities continue growing alongside market needs.

With more than 70 years of cartonboard expertise, Grenadier Trenton is known for high end finishes, complex gluing and creative structural design, backed by FSC and BRC accreditation. Since joining the group in 2020, Trenton has become a cornerstone of the group, and there is a clear opportunity to build on those foundations.

Commenting on his appointment, James said: ‘Grenadier Trenton Box has a hard won reputation for quality and craftsmanship, and a team that clearly takes pride in the packaging it produces. Having spent my career in labels, I am excited to move into a new part of the packaging world and bring a fresh perspective to a business with such strong foundations.

‘My priorities are straightforward. They are to listen to our customers and our fantastic people, ensure Grenadier Trenton remains the partner of choice and to keep investing in the capabilities that set us apart. There is an exciting opportunity to grow as part of Grenadier Packaging, and I am looking forward to getting started.’

James's appointment is part of the wider development of the company, which brings together six specialist businesses across luxury, cartonboard and corrugated packaging. Alongside continued investment in capability, the group is focused on putting the right people in place to lead each business, so that every site keeps its specialist identity while benefiting from the scale and shared resources of the wider group.
