Holywell Press looks to the future with Heidelberg Speedmaster CX 75 investment

Print Solutions

Oxford based Holywell Press has taken delivery of a CX 75 four colour press, fitted with LE-UV drying, from Heidelberg UK.

The installation concludes Holywell’s three year hunt for the perfect printing press for its needs. At the outset, the best option was a press with a built-in coater, but the company didn’t like the look of paper covered by a coating. It also found that the five unit CX 75, a direct replacement for its previous press, was too large for the space available.

‘The four unit CX 75 LE-UV’s footprint is the perfect size! The technology in the press is superb – from the paper handling with touch free transfer cylinders, to completely dry sheets in the delivery. We have made this investment because our customers expect the highest quality from us, and this press delivers,’ explained Ben Burrows, managing director, Holywell Press.

Ben also points to increase in productivity and efficiency thanks to the new press. ‘The accuracy of registration, pre-inking, and colour control reduces makeready time, and gives us the confidence to run at top speed knowing that the quality and consistency of the print is second to none. And with each sheet coming off the press completely dry, we can back jobs up immediately and move them swiftly into finishing without risk of marking. Turnaround times are dramatically reduced, and we can take on more work as a result.

‘Aside from the benefit of faster turnaround, we are now able to offer customers same day and more affordable lithographic printing, as well as the benefits of top quality litho printing on shorter runs. Our customers will benefit from the improved sharpness and vibrancy of the print even on uncoated recycled paper – something many of our customers prefer to use for environmental reasons. Add to this the fact that we will be delivering fantastic print results with less waste, and our investment in this press delivers a very positive message to our customers.’

Richard Dix, area sales manager of Heidelberg UK, said: ‘We are so proud that Holywell Press has chosen the CX 75 four colour fitted with LE-UV drying. Overall output and efficiency have improved significantly, thanks to the new operating software and technology of the CX 75. The compact Speedmaster CX 75 can be perfectly integrated into almost every pressroom thanks to its small footprint. Moreover, the ergonomic press concept permits quick and easy operation, cost effectively and sustainably.’

Holywell Press has been serving businesses, academic institutions, and individuals across Oxfordshire and the southeast for over 130 years. Ben Burrows is the fourth generation of the Burrows family to run the business, and his son Oliver has recently joined the company as well.
