i2r is supporting people and communities, whether that  is through local sport or personal fundraising for causes that make a real difference.

Last month, internal sales manager, Simone Byrne, took on an incredible personal challenge, completing the Berlin Marathon in aid of the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Support Service (ADSS) – an independent charity that supports those affected by dementia and Alzheimer’s through memory cafés, singing groups, buddy schemes and much more.

 Having seen first hand the impact of these conditions on loved ones, Simone wanted to do something both meaningful and demanding. With her son already signed up for the marathon, she applied through ADSS in February 2025, despite never having run more than a 5K before.

Balancing regular gym sessions with a new running routine, Simone built up her stamina to 18 miles before an untimely stress fracture interrupted her training. Undeterred, she made it to Berlin, where she joined thousands of runners in 27° C heat to complete the race.

'The atmosphere was amazing,’ said Simone.’“It was emotional, challenging and unforgettable,  especially crossing the finish line and meeting my son, who had also run it. That is a memory I will treasure forever.’

In addition to personal efforts like Simone’s, i2r continues to back grassroots sport. As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting local communities, the company currently sponsors Broseley Youth Sports U11 Boltz for the 2025/26 season.

Grassroots football offers young people a chance to develop skills, build confidence and learn teamwork – qualities that reflect i2r’s own values. The team will wear new i2r branded training shirts during practice and before matches, with the sponsorship also featured in the club’s match updates.
