‘Koehler Cycles’ campaign

Employees at the Koehler Group have raised an impressive EUR10,000 in donations for the Förderverein für krebskranke Kinder eV – a Freiburg based charity that works with children suffering from cancer – through its ‘Koehler Cycles’ campaign.

During the past year, 160 employees have covered a total of 121,667 kilometres (roughly 76,000 miles) cycling to work. The Koehler Group donates 5 cents per kilometre cycled, so this year more than EUR6000 was donated in total. This amount was rounded up to EUR10,000 by the board of management. Frank Lendowski, finance and administration director at Koehler Group, had the pleasure of handing over the donation to Karl Bähr, member of the board of management at Förderverein für krebskranke Kinder eV.

Another positive effect: more than EUR18,250 in fuel costs and 14 tonnes of CO2 were saved in the ‘Koehler Cycles’ campaign – that equates to an annual CO2 compensation of more than 1120 beech trees.

‘Once again this year, our colleagues showed amazing commitment and dedication. This will motivate us to continue running this kind of campaign in the future to help protect our environment and strengthen our sense of togetherness,’ said Igor Kasza, occupational health management coordinator at Koehler.
