Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) will once again open the doors of its client engagement centre (CEC) in Houghton Regis to welcome year 8 students from local schools for its annual TechGirls event on Thursday 20 November, a dedicated day focused on inspiring young women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM).

Building on the success of last year’s Ada Lovelace Day celebration, the 2025 event continues Konica Minolta’s commitment to increasing female representation in the tech industry and supporting the local community. The initiative is part of the company’s broader diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy.

This year’s programme includes a panel talk hosted by TechGirls, featuring senior leaders and role models from Konica Minolta, including Leigh Jolly, change and information security lead; Rachel Lake, field service delivery manager; Kathryn Lloyd, sales account manager; and Holly Clark, a former apprentice recently appointed as financial planning and analyst with the company. Together, they will share personal insights and career journeys to help students envision their own futures in STEM.

Marta Moreira Rodriguez, balance network lead, commented: ‘Events like TechGirls are vital for breaking down barriers and showing young women that there is a place for them in STEM industries. By connecting students with real role models and hands-on experiences, we are helping to shape a more inclusive future for technology.’

Students will tour the CEC, explore the types of STEM careers available in the print and technology sectors, and take part in a creative workshop, where they will design posters promoting women in STEM. These will be printed using Konica Minolta’s production print devices, and each student will also receive a specially embellished chocolate box produced on-site.

The company’s partnership with TechGirls and its ongoing collaboration with local schools reflect the company’s strong belief in community engagement and early intervention to support future talent. The event is designed to coincide with the period when students begin considering their GCSE options, offering timely inspiration and practical guidance.
