Leach completes four year design and print project for Oman Botanic Garden

West Yorkshire based large format print specialist Leach has completed a four year international project supporting the development of the $175 million Oman Botanic Garden.

The attraction is one of the world’s largest botanic garden projects, covering 420 hectares, which showcases Oman’s biodiversity through a series of natural habitats, educational spaces and visitor experiences.

Leach was appointed to deliver the artwork, print and installation of over 1000 pieces of bespoke large format solutions across the garden’s visitor spaces, working with project stakeholders in Oman throughout the development.

A key element of the project was creating a visual identity that could be applied consistently across English and Arabic, working closely alongside Monotype to create a bespoke typeface and illustrator Marcella Wylie to commission the botanical illustrations.

Leach subsequently produced and installed environmental graphics across the garden’s four principal areas: the Dhofar Mountains Biome, Hajar Mountains Biome, Deserts Pavilion and visitor centre, using specialist materials to accommodate temperatures that exceed 40 degrees Celsius.

The project included approximately 100 Eco Vault external interpretation panels, 188 stoved aluminium plant identification labels, 750 door signs and 28 custom wallpaper installations covering approximately 200 square metres.

Leach also managed the detailed quality control and international logistics, including the photography of items prior to shipment and multiple visits to Oman to support artwork reviews and phased installation.
