Mimeo has strengthened its production capabilities with a major investment in Canon’s varioPrint iX3200 digital inkjet press, building on a long standing partnership that spans operations in the UK, Germany and the United States of America.
Â
The installation marks the latest phase of Mimeo’s drive to modernise its print fleet and enhance efficiency, quality and versatility across its high volume business units. The company now operates five Canon iX-series presses globally, following extensive testing and evaluation of competitive technologies.
Â

Founded in 1998, the company is a leading provider of on-demand printing, packaging, and digital content distribution solutions. Serving businesses, educators, and institutions worldwide, Mimeo combines cutting edge technology with high touch service to help organisations communicate better through print.
Â
Since its installation, the varioPrint iX3200 has already begun reshaping production workflows, delivering ultra fast production speeds of 9120 SRA3 duplex images per hour, and high uptime (over 90%) with automated efficiencies. This level of speed and productivity has enabled the company to print, package and ship products in under an hour in some cases.
Â
Thanks to its inkjet technology and water based polymer pigment ink, ColorGrip conditioning liquid and in line quality assurance technologies, the varioPrint iX3200 consistently delivers detailed, smooth images for excellent print quality. This means Mimeo’s photo products are now printed to a higher standard than ever before.
Â
Additionally, the wide media range of the device allows a vast array of high value applications, while smart digitally enhanced processes allow Mimeo to switch quickly between jobs and fulfil more orders at speed. Together, these improvements help it manage the peaks of its customer demands and high volume jobs more efficiently, maintaining high capacity without compromising on quality or delivery.
Â
The installation continues a relationship with Canon that has evolved over more than a decade. The implementation was led by the manufcaturer’s dedicated professional services team, with Steve Bancroft serving as project manager and working closely with Mimeo’s engineering and operations leads to ensure a seamless rollout.
Â
Cameron Dunlop, senior operations manager, Mimeo UK, commented: ‘We are delighted with the successful installation of our new varioPrint iX3200 inkjet press. The project was completed seamlessly, thanks to the professionalism and expertise of the Canon team. From planning to implementation, the process was well managed, with clear communication and strong technical support throughout. The iX3200 is already delivering excellent quality and productivity improvements, and we are excited about the new opportunities it brings to our print operations.’
Â
Stuart Rising, head of graphic arts at Canon UK and Ireland, added: ‘ This investment was the result of close collaboration between long standing partners, with a clearly defined project plan, thorough on-site preparation and hands-on technical guidance. It is fantastic to see the iX3200 already delivering measurable improvements in speed, quality and workflow reliability across their operations. Mimeo has a strong vision for the future of its print services, and we are excited to see that Canon technology is helping to unlock new capacity and creative possibilities as they continue to grow.’
