Multisigns brings growth into focus with VeloBlade Nexus from Soyang

Norfolk based graphics, signage and print business MultiSigns said its recent investment in a new Vivid VeloBlade Nexus digital cutting system from Soyang Europe has allowed the company to bring more production in-house and significantly reduce turnaround times for customers.

Working out of its specialist Thetford facility for more than 25 years, Multisigns offers a wide range of products and services, including signage, large format print, vehicle graphics and display solutions.

In response to a rise in demand for cut to shape signage, lettering and bespoke display products, the company recently took the decision to invest in new equipment that would allow it to produce more work in-house, rather than having to outsource and rely on external suppliers.

Having partnered with Soyang on inks, machinery and servicing support for many years, Multisigns returned to the manufacturer and distributor for its latest investment. After speaking with the team, Multisigns identified the VeloBlade Nexus – manufactured by Vivid Laminating Technologies, and available to purchase in the UK and Ireland through Soyang – as a strong fit for its requirements.

Available in three core bed sizes – 3000 x 1600 mm, 2500 x 1600 mm and 1800 x 1600 mm – the VeloBlade Nexus features a range of tools including a drag knife, crease wheel, v-cut knife, oscillating knife, and optional CNC router and can handle a range of substrates, from corrugated board and foam PVC to MDF, acrylic and Dibond.

Since installing the machine, Multisigns’ co-owners Mitch Day and Jim Pryer said that the system has significantly improved production efficiency, allowing the company to reduce its reliance on external suppliers and shorten turnaround times.

‘We selected the machine because it offered the flexibility and precision we were looking for, while also fitting the needs of our business both now and in the future,’ they said. ‘The ability to produce a wide range of custom shaped products in-house made it an attractive investment and one that aligns with our plans for continued growth.

‘Since installation, we have been producing a variety of cut to shape lettering signs and working with wood based materials to create bespoke products. The machine has enabled us to take on a broader range of applications and offer customers more creative and customised solutions.

‘The impact has been immediate. Previously, much of this type of work was outsourced, but bringing production in-house has proved far more cost effective and has given us greater control over quality and scheduling. It has also significantly reduced turnaround times, enabling us to respond more quickly to customer requests and take on projects that may not have been practical before.’

Mitch and Jim went on to say that the VeloBlade Nexus will form an important part of Multisigns’ future growth plans, with the company now looking at more investment opportunities – including direct to board printing technology – to complement the cutting capabilities of the VeloBlade and further streamline its production workflow.

They also praised Soyang’s support throughout the investment, installation and aftercare process, describing the company as a trusted partner over their many years of working together.
