New platform developed for print companies to sell print on AI platforms

Digital Ink, a technical marketing collective, and Smart Elephant, an AI software development house, have announced the launch of GEO Rank: a platform designed to help businesses be found, cited, and ultimately chosen by AI large language models (LLMs), including Claude, ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Perplexity and more.

GEO Rank was born from a clear and growing market signal. Print companies have reported Google search referrals dropping by as much as 50%, as buyers increasingly turn to AI tools to research products and services before making purchasing decisions. As AI becomes the new front door for business discovery, GEO Rank gives companies the intelligence and tools to stay visible, competitive, and recommended in that environment.

The platform provides businesses with a clear score of their current visibility across AI results, benchmarks against direct competitors, and a prioritised, tailored roadmap of actions to improve it. GEO Rank supports a range of print and related verticals, including wide format, packaging, labels, general commercial print, and apparel. Businesses can choose their own path to improvement: fixing issues themselves with GEO Rank's guidance, engaging the professional services team to implement changes on their behalf, or receiving hands-on training to build in-house capability.

GEO Rank is the product of a partnership between Digital Ink and Smart Elephant that began in 2025, originally focused on go to market strategy and bespoke Martech projects for web to print businesses. Over that period, the two teams observed a seismic shift in what print companies need, not only in the software they invest in, but in how they can be found and utilised in an AI dominant world.

Ahead of launch, GEO Rank ran a closed beta programme to stress test the platform and deepen its understanding of the challenges print companies face. Working closely with major US and UK printers, the teams used real world feedback to refine the platform and ensure it delivers actionable, relevant intelligence from day one.

Harrison Bailey, founder of Smart Elephant and co-founder of GEO Rank, said: ‘It has been an extraordinary process to pull together a tool as comprehensive as GEO Rank. What is genuinely exciting is that it does not just tell a business where they stand in AI visibility – it shows them where their competitors are positioned, too. Sometimes a competitor with a far lesser product is outranking a business simply because they are better optimised for AI. We give businesses the awareness and the roadmap to change that, whether they want to act themselves or have us do it with them. This is the first step in a long software roadmap, and we will continue to evolve the platform as the way people research and buy print products and services online continues to shift.’

Chris Minn, founder of Digital Ink, said: ‘This is a challenge that is multiplying by the day. The easier it becomes to use AI software, the quicker businesses need to transition to being cited by large language models. We are already planning for the next phase, when e-commerce moves further into platforms like Shopify and advertising opportunities open up directly inside tools like ChatGPT – where a user should be able to purchase print products without ever leaving the LLM they are using. We believe GEO Rank is the foundation of that new world, and we are building for where it is going, not just where it is today.’

GEO Rank is available from 1 October 2026.
