Roland DG has announced the launch of the TrueVis MG2 Series, a next generation UV printer/cutter range comprising the MG2-640 and MG2-300.

Designed to help print businesses increase profitability, the new series combines significantly higher productivity, exceptional print quality, advanced application capabilities and lower running costs in a single integrated UV print and cut solution.

As demand grows for more premium and customised print applications, print companies are under increasing pressure to deliver higher quality output while maintaining efficiency and controlling costs. The MG2 Series addresses these challenges by enabling businesses to produce a wider range of high value applications faster and more profitably than ever before.

At the heart of the MG2 Series is a newly developed printhead paired with advanced waveform control technology, delivering approximately twice the productivity of the previous MG Series. Faster print speeds allow users to increase daily output, improve turnaround times and maximise profitability without compromising quality.

Combined with improved workflow automation and enhanced maintenance functions, the MG2 Series helps businesses keep production moving and minimise downtime.

The MG2 Series incorporates Roland DG's latest image quality technologies, including improved ink placement accuracy, Variable Dot Technology and True Rich Color print settings, to produce vibrant graphics, smooth gradations and outstanding detail.

In addition to standard CMYK, optional orange and red inks expand the colour gamut and increase Pantone coverage, allowing users to reproduce brand colours more accurately while creating impactful graphics with exceptional vibrancy. True Rich Color technology further enhances output by balancing vivid colour reproduction with natural skin tones and neutral greys.

Designed to help users move beyond traditional signage and graphics work, the MG2 Series supports a broad range of premium UV applications, including window graphics, backlit displays, stickers, labels, packaging prototypes, promotional materials and speciality decorative graphics.

Using single pass multi-layer printing, which enables up to five layers to be printed simultaneously by stacking combinations of CMYK, white and gloss inks, users can create visually striking, high value applications that combine full colour with white undercoats, gloss finishes and textured or embossed effects, adding greater depth, dimension and impact to printed graphics.

Producing multiple layers in a single pass eliminates the need to reverse feed media between layers, helping to reduce the risk of misalignment and media jams while delivering accurate, consistent results. Combined with the integrated take up system, the MG2 Series can support continuous multi-layer production and reliable unattended operation, including overnight printing.

With different layer configurations available depending on the application, alongside 72 built-in texture libraries, users can explore a wide range of premium decorative effects and differentiated products, helping them broaden their offering and target higher margin opportunities.

Roland DG's integrated print and cut technology enables users to print and contour cut in a single workflow, simplifying production and improving efficiency.

In addition to supporting integrated workflows, the MG2 Series is compatible with Roland DG, Summa and Graphtec cutting devices, allowing businesses to tailor production processes to suit their operation. A newly designed take up system helps keep media off the floor during print and cut jobs, improving reliability and reducing operator intervention.

The MG2 Series has been designed to reduce overall operating costs and maximise return on investment.

New 1000 ml ink pouches significantly lower ink costs while reducing the frequency of ink replacements, helping businesses operate more efficiently. Automated media set-up and calibration features further simplify operation, while Direct Print functionality enables users to execute printing tasks directly from the device.

Enhanced maintenance features, including a newly developed automatic fabric wiper, help maintain consistent print quality while reducing routine maintenance requirements.

Users of the MG2 Series benefit from Roland DG's fully integrated software ecosystem. VersaWorks 7 RIP software provides advanced colour management and production controls, while Connect offers remote device monitoring, production analytics and business insights to help customers optimise performance and profitability.

The launch of the MG2 Series forms part of Roland DG's continued investment in the rapidly growing UV roll to roll printing market. The new range is designed to support sign makers, print companies, display graphics specialists, label producers and packaging converters seeking to expand their capabilities and create more profitable applications.

‘The MG2 Series has been developed to help print businesses capture new opportunities in the growing UV market,’ said Ryugo Nimura, Executive officer, global sales and marketing division, Roland DG.

‘By combining approximately twice the productivity of the previous generation with outstanding image quality, advanced multi-layer capabilities, integrated print and cut functionality and lower running costs, the MG2 Series enables customers to produce higher value applications more efficiently while increasing profitability. We believe it represents one of the most compelling solutions available in the mid-range UV printer/cutter market today.’

The TrueVis MG2-640 and TrueVis MG2-300 are available now.
