New Vision Packaging maintains lead times despite industry shortages

Packaging Solutions

New Vision Packaging (NVP) has commented on the current packaging shortages in the UK and the position it finds itself in maintaining lead times on standard materials.

Stephen Shortland, managing director of NVP, said: ‘It is common knowledge that the packaging industry has been in a bit of turmoil of late with shortages of various materials and price hikes hitting the news.

‘Container prices are costing ten times pre pandemic levels with no sign of relief. Online shopping has driven exceptional demand for secondary packaging and now pandemic related pent up consumer demand is challenging what are already stretched supply chains. The industry is therefore now in a perfect storm in terms of demand and supply capabilities and prices are rocketing.

‘At NVP, we have found ourselves in something of a unique position in the UK. We have seen many packaging suppliers having to let down customers, offer short orders, or highly extended lead times – up to some six months in some cases. Our team has been working hard over many years to build a robust business working with a number of partners in Europe, and a dedicated haulier who efficiently manages the Brexit border challenges. This means we are still maintaining our nine week lead time commitment on standard materials, which is an exception in the market currently.

‘We know times are tough out there, especially with the festive season upon us. Hopefully our situation can give some relief to some brands that need support, and they too can discover our range of sustainable packaging that creates smiles.’
