Nico Rossi, the Sunderland based premier food wholesaler providing high quality food products, ingredients, and packaging solutions to restaurants, cafés, and pop up food venues throughout the northeast of England, has taken a major step forward in its operational efficiency with the installation of an IGS Cobalt SP800 single pass printer.

As demand for fast, customised food packaging continues to grow across the regional hospitality sector, Nico Rossi set out to find a high speed printing solution capable of keeping pace with its rapid distribution network. The business spent several months conducting an exhaustive evaluation of single pass printers, travelling across the UK and Europe to assess the market’s leading options.

The search concluded with a trip to Caldicot, Wales, home to the main showroom and demonstration facility of International Graphic Supplies Ltd (IGS). During a live demonstration of the Cobalt SP800, the machine quickly proved to tick every box – delivering the precise combination of single pass speed, sharp output quality, and substrate versatility required for high volume wholesale packaging.

Beyond the machine’s technical capabilities, the decision was driven by trust and long term reliability. After speaking directly with existing IGS machine users, the team at Nico Rossi received overwhelming reassurance regarding the supplier’s commitment to aftersales service and ongoing technical support.

With the Cobalt SP800 now fully operational at its Sunderland headquarters, Nico Rossi can produce branded pizza boxes, kraft bags, cartons, and short run promotional packaging on-demand. This in-house capability allows the wholesaler to respond almost instantly to custom requests from local eateries, helping regional food businesses elevate their brand presentation while drastically reducing packaging lead times.

‘We spent months looking at options across Europe to ensure we found the absolute best single pass technology for our operation,’ said Roger Andrews, managing director for Nico Rossi. ‘When we visited the IGS showroom in Caldicot, the Cobalt SP800 immediately stood out – it met every single requirement we had for speed and reliability. Speaking with current IGS customers confirmed that the team delivers first rate aftersales back up, which gave us complete peace of mind in making this investment. The installation went smoothly, and we were already producing live customer orders by the second day of installation.’

‘It is a pleasure to work with a forward thinking business like Nico Rossi as it continues to support the vibrant food and hospitality industry across the northeast,’ added Peter Flynn, managing director of International Graphic Supplies Ltd. ‘The Cobalt SP800 is built specifically to handle the demands of fast turnaround, short to medium run packaging, making it a perfect fit for its wholesale growth.’
