Page Bros has invested in a new Heidelberg Speedmaster XL106-5+L, replacing an existing CX102, as part of a three year, £7 million investment strategy with the intent to grow, evolve, and expand into new markets. This investment, alongside multiple recent mergers and acquisitions, has created real momentum across the business.

The XL106’s efficiency translates into faster, more dependable delivery schedules, consistently higher quality outcomes, and greater production flexibility. As it uses less energy and generates less waste, it also supports the sustainability goals of Page Bros and its customers. The company also owns a TH82-P Stahlfolder, which supports the new press.

‘The XL106 will give us unmatched speed, flexibility, and quality, allowing us to take on larger, more complex projects and deliver them faster and more sustainably than ever before. This expansion isn’t just about meeting our clients’ needs today, it is about anticipating tomorrow’s demands and positioning ourselves ahead of the curve,’ said CEO Alex Tuya.

The XL106 reduces environmental impact, maximises productivity, and ensures consistent, high quality results. This proven Peak Performance platform is recognised for its reliability and innovation. Supported by Heidelberg’s strong UK service infrastructure, it offers excellent value and aligns perfectly with Page Bros’ needs and strategy.

The XL106’s automation can reduce makeready times by as much as 40%, while in line controls minimise paper waste at job start up. In practice, this means significant gains in efficiency and output: more work per shift, higher job volume, and faster turnaround. Colour management is also streamlined, ensuring consistency across long runs and repeat orders.

The team at Page Bros has responded with great enthusiasm. ‘Our operators will benefit from its modern automation and user friendly control systems,’ said Spencer Armes, chief operating officer at Page Bros, ‘making their work more efficient and less physically demanding. For our customers, this investment represents a commitment to quality, reliability, and service and the assurance of a print partner ready to grow with them.’

‘This investment will also help future proof our operations, ensuring we can remain agile and competitive in a dynamic and evolving market,’ added Alex.

‘We believe the right technology partners are essential to delivering real value for our clients, and Heidelberg has been a long standing, trusted partner to Page Bros. Its service, support, and reliability – combined with a shared commitment to sustainability and innovation – makes the company the ideal fit.’

‘The Speedmaster XL 106 offers a range of compelling advantages,’ said Phil Buttress, head of sales at Heidelberg UK. ‘It combines outstanding energy efficiency with exceptional print quality and high performance. We value our long standing partnership with Page Bros and are pleased it has selected Heidelberg for this investment.’
