Welcoming students from Sheffield Hallam’s Packaging Design and Technology programme, the company was able to share insights into what a career in flexible packaging looks like.

The students were given a tour of Parkside’s factory where they saw its new product development lab and took part in a challenge to redesign the packaging of their favourite food or product, or to create an improved solution for packaging that frustrates them.

Parkside’s technical apprentice, Hayden Birkenshaw, gave a talk to his fellow students about his experience with Parkside and what he is working on in his current role.

Dr Joshua Swann, group technical and new product director, said: ‘We were delighted to welcome the students from Sheffield Hallam to learn more about the packaging industry. Nurturing the next generation of talent is an issue that is very close to our hearts, and programmes like this are critical for providing young professionals with hands on experience and insights into a career in this dynamic sector. It was great to see such enthusiasm from the students and we are looking forward to seeing how their careers develop in the years to come.’
