Emerging print industry talent shone brightly as the Printing Charity’s annual celebration of its Rising Star Award winners was held at the House of Lords.
Hosted by Printing Charity president emeritus and long standing Rising Star supporter Lord Black of Brentwood, this year 78 winners – a 28% increase on last year – from across the worlds of print, paper, packaging, graphics and publishing were in the spotlight.

The Printing Charity is investing over £106,000 in this year’s winners’ futures. This translates to funding for 148 courses, helping winners build on their personal development; bolster core role capabilities; gain a recognised qualification; or follow a leadership pathway. The courses cover a diverse range of opportunities including colour management, advanced sales skills, fabrication and welding, mentoring, coaching, design for art direction and SEO... and everything else in between.
Printing Charity CEO Neil Lovell explained, ‘As is the case every year, we are celebrating the achievements and future potential of the sector’s outstanding younger talent. What is really encouraging, this year, is the increase in the range of courses we are funding. These courses will drive our winners forward in their chosen careers underlining how the industry is arguably unmatched as a place for young people to build a fulfilling career in almost any discipline.
‘It also highlights the evolution of what it means to work in print. This evolution will be driven by this year’s winners, by those who have won the Rising Stars before them, and by those who will win an award after them. It is fair to say, with talent like this within print and the allied trades, the future’s bright.’
This year’s event was supported by the Publishing Training Centre and Unite the Union.
