Roland DG continues to push the boundaries of printing innovation with two new launches – the VersaObject MO-240 and PrintAutoMate software, aimed at providing error free print flows and increased productivity in UV printing.
The MO-240, the latest addition to the VersaObject series, is designed to elevate direct printing on three-dimensional objects with unprecedented productivity.
Tony Miller, president of the global sales and marketing division, highlighted the advancements, stating: ‘The MO-240 is Roland DG’s newest benchtop UV flatbed, achieving beautiful, high definition output with increased productivity through innovative technologies.
‘Our VersaObject series has been meeting the needs for small lot, high mix production in manufacturing and services with its high definition and beautiful printing. In recent years, new services such as customisation and personalisation have been attracting attention in various fields based on the diversifying and individualised consumer needs, and the MO-240 with its advanced productivity will bring a high level of competitiveness to customers in these businesses. We will continue to develop and provide attractive solutions to contribute to our customers' creativity and business expansion.'
The MO-240 achieves productivity of 2.07 m2 per hour in standard mode, featuring newly developed large print heads in a staggered layout, a potent UV-LED lamp, and cutting edge dot control technology for optimised high speed output. Notably, productivity for simultaneous white printing has doubled compared to previous models, ensuring shorter curing times for precise reproduction of intricate details, fine text, and subtle gradations.
Using Roland DG EUV5 inks, including Orange, Red, White, and Gloss in addition to CMYK, the colour gamut is expanded by approximately 20% compared to CMYK printing, resulting in superior colour reproduction and accuracy. Gloss ink produces premium gloss or matte finishes and realistic textures, including 3D embossed effects. Moreover, the MO-240, through its use of EUV5 inks, accommodates various materials, from soft to hard, covering plastic, paper, leather, wood, and even glass and metal with the use of primer ink.
The printer’s capabilities span a printing area of 610 x 458 mm, accommodating three-dimensional objects up to 204 mm thick. Additionally, with the optional rotary axis unit, cylindrical objects such as bottles from 10 mm to 121 mm in diameter can be printed upon.
The MO-240 features a seven inch full colour touch panel for intuitive operation, an automatic cleaning function to maintain print quality, and includes VersaWorks 6 professional RIP software for precision and high speed processing of various file formats.
Simultaneously, Roland DG has also introduced PrintAutoMate, a cloud based software aimed at standardising output operations and streamlining print workflows for businesses dealing with diverse data, media, and products.
Tony added, ‘PrintAutoMate is an asset for businesses offering personalisation services, particularly in e-commerce, by automating complex printing tasks and significantly enhancing work efficiency.
’PrintAutoMate automatically converts printing data into pre-registered fixture layout data, assigns print jobs to operators, and seamlessly integrates with VersaWorks 6 RIP software, vastly improving efficiency and minimising errors in production processes.
