Arctic Paper UK’s Rob Slowe and his daughter Imogen are running the London Marathon in support of VICTA, a national charity that provides support to children and young adults who are blind or partially sighted, and their families.
Rob and Imogen are happy to support this cause as they have family members – including Imogen’s auntie – who know first hand how much this charity does for people living with retinitis pigmentosa (RP). This is their story.

‘When I was first diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa – a rare, degenerative eye condition – I never imagined that years later, I would be facing the heart breaking reality that my son, Christopher, has it too,’ she explained.
‘RP causes gradual vision loss, beginning with night blindness and narrowing of the visual field. There is currently no cure.
‘Watching your child face something like this is incredibly hard. As a mum, all you want is to protect them – to take away anything that might hurt them. But with RP, all I can do is fight to give Christopher the brightest future possible.’
That is why raising awareness and funding support is so important.
‘I am incredibly proud of Imogen and Rob for running the London Marathon to support our journey. They are not just running for Christopher and me – they are running for every child and young adult facing a future with sight loss.’
Rob explained, ‘We are raising funds for VICTA, a small but national UK charity that empowers blind and partially sighted children and young adults and their families.
‘VICTA understands the isolation and loneliness that can come with vision impairment. It uses sport and activity based learning to bring young people together in fun, supportive environments – helping them build friendships, skills, and confidence.’
The charity doesn’t don’t just support children – it challenges them to believe in their own potential, to push past limiting expectations, and to create their own path forward.
