Skandacor has announced the Finishpro 3D 2436, a new spot UV varnish printer designed to make large format digital embellishment more accessible to print shops.

Building on the success of the 3D 1623, the new 2436 expands the maximum sheet size to a larger format, which gives users more room to create dimensional spot UV, raised textures, and high gloss effects on packaging, point of purchase displays, and larger format print applications that are beyond the reach of smaller format equipment.

For many print shops, moving into large format embellishment has traditionally required a big investment, specialised operators, and a complicated production process.

The Finishpro 3D 2436 is designed to change that.

It gives shops a practical way to add premium dimensional finishing to larger sheets while keeping the workflow straightforward and manageable. The result is more work that can be produced in-house, more value added to every printed piece, and more opportunities to say yes to customers.

‘Print shops have been asking for a way to bring the embellishment quality of the Finishpro 3D 1623 to larger sheets and larger applications,’ said Brad Drever, CEO of Skandacor. ‘The 2436 answers that need by giving shops the ability to embellish B2 sheets and larger formats in-house. It gives shops the flexibility to begin packaging, point of view, and other high value work without adding unnecessary complexity.’

‘What makes the 2436 exciting is the range of work it brings within reach,’ said Jon Congdon, president of Skandacor. ‘Packaging, oversized stationery, point of purchase displays, and other larger applications can now become profitable in-house opportunities instead of jobs that need to be outsourced or turned away.’

Automatic paper loading and unloading help streamline production, while a CCD camera assisted registration system delivers alignment accuracy of at least 0.2 mm. This allows shops to achieve precise large format embellishment without requiring a highly specialised operator.

Primary applications include commercial print, stationery, packaging, point of purchase displays, and other high value specialty print work.
