Smurfit Westrock has officially opened the doors of its first packaging facility designed exclusively for pharmaceutical patient medication adherence, regulated pharma packaging and clinical trials. Over €40 million has been invested in the new facility, which will reflect the design and operational processes of a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, with patient focus at the core.
The Horizon facility will be operated under the Smurfit Westrock Adherence & Clinicals (SWA&C) division with a 170 person team of highly skilled designers, operators and support functions. With packaging playing a critical role in the success of clinical healthcare trials, the dedicated team will continue to develop innovative approaches that support the next generation of life saving medicine, improve patient adherence and provide enhanced data. The facility also has an experience centre which brings to life its extensive capabilities for visitors’ individual requirements and promotes both patient focus and client collaboration to explore potential partnerships than can advance the future of healthcare.Â
Strategically located close to Dublin Airport to facilitate its international customer base, it will operate with the same focus as its sister Smurfit Westrock facilities in Kunshan, China and Mebane, North Carolina, USA, in supporting clients with a global support and service.
