Soyang Europe is delighted to be running a Christmas charity collection drive for the Colne Open Door Centre, a local, drop-in support facility.
Opened in March 2000, the centre was set up to respond to the needs of local people in Colne and the surrounding areas that live in social isolation and have become marginalised by society. The centre recently highlighted just how many local children and families are facing a difficult festive season, and with Soyang Europe located near the local women's refuge, its team wanted to run the campaign to help spread some festive cheer among the community.

Louise Bibby and Alice Aspinall from Soyang Europe launched the collection drive in mid November with the aim of gathering items that will be distributed directly to families in need of a little extra support this Christmas.
Louise, Alice and the Soyang team have been busy over the past few weeks collecting a wide range of boxed toys, gift sets, children’s books, soft toys, pyjamas, foodbank items, teen gifts, selection boxes and other festive treats ready to hand over to Colne Open Door Centre.
‘The response has been incredible,’ said Alice Aspinall, sales assistant at Soyang. ‘While many of us are preparing for joyful Christmas mornings, others are worrying about how to make the day special at all.
‘What started as a small collection has snowballed into something far bigger than we ever expected. It has been genuinely uplifting to see the donations building day by day.
‘Staff, customers, visitors and delivery drivers have all taken time to contribute, and that kindness doesn’t go unnoticed. It is a reminder of what this time of year is about: supporting our community and looking out for those who need a little extra help. This generosity will make a real difference for local families.’

Earlier this week, Alice, Louise and Soyang Europe’s sales director Oliver Mashiter delivered the donated items to the Colne Open Door Centre. They met up with Nick Alderson, the manager of the centre, and he shared just how far these donations will go. Last year, the centre was able to support more than 500 local families with this year’s aim being to help even more.
