X-Rite Pantone has announced Spectura, its next generation portable sphere spectrophotometer platform designed to connect colour measurement with modern quality workflows. Combining advanced measurement performance, secure cloud connectivity, and an expandable application framework, Spectura helps manufacturers reduce colour errors, accelerate decisions, and maintain consistency from the laboratory to the production floor.

Manufacturers increasingly manage colour across distributed sites, supplier networks, and diverse materials while facing tighter tolerances and shorter approval cycles. Yet many production measurements still require manual data transfers before review, limiting visibility and slowing corrective action.

‘Colour quality can no longer be managed one instrument, facility, or supplier at a time,’ said Ben Spiegel, director of product management, X-Rite Pantone. ‘As manufacturing becomes more distributed, organisations need connected workflows that preserve the integrity of colour data across every location where decisions are made. Spectura creates that foundation, helping teams reduce variability, respond faster, and improve consistency throughout the colour programme.’

Spectura brings laboratory level measurement performance to a durable, portable platform. This new architecture integrates advanced optics, high definition camera targeting, temperature aware measurement, purpose built accessories, secure cloud connectivity, NetProfiler integration, and future application capabilities within a single platform. Strong inter-instrument agreement with established X-Rite handheld and benchtop systems helps maintain alignment between established colour standards and production results to reduce measurement variation and create a foundation for connected colour quality management.

Secure cloud connectivity powered by X-Rite Color iQC brings colour and instrument performance data directly into digital quality workflows, reducing manual transfers. Quality managers can review production results in real time, identify issues earlier, reduce rework, and collaborate across locations and suppliers using a shared source of trusted colour data.

Spectura unites instrument hardware, cloud services, NetProfiler, and modular applications to help manufacturers modernise colour quality workflows while building on established standards and practices.

Three models address distinct quality needs:

  • Spectura S60 for portable colour comparison.

  • Spectura S62 for everyday quality control.

  • Spectura S64 for tighter tolerances and agreement with Ci7800 benchtop spectrophotometers.

‘The future of colour quality control is defined by connected systems that make trusted data available wherever decisions are made,’ said Ben. ‘Spectura helps manufacturers strengthen colour quality today while preparing for evolving regulatory requirements, including CRA compliance.’
