Young entrepreneur chooses business over books to take the helm of Signarama UK franchise

Birmingham based 19 year old entrepreneur, Dharam Basi, has become the new master partner of Signarama United Kingdom, part of the growing global signage franchise group, Signarama. 

His extended family and colleagues support Dharam to drive the growth of the franchise business in the UK.

Signarama United Kingdom already has three high street stores operating in the London area, including Surbiton, Enfield, and Milton Keynes. Dharam is now looking to expand the number of franchisees by opening additional stores throughout the UK over the next few years.   

Signarama is based in 800 locations worldwide in 60 countries, and is part of the global franchise network, United Franchise Group, with its world headquarters in the United States of America. Signarama provides signage solutions to a wide range of industries for shop signage, events, exhibitions, buildings, vehicles, indoor, and promotional signs.  

Dharam said, ‘I had two options: either to become a degree student and potentially get into a lot of debt, or invest in a franchise business and hit the business ground running. I carried out a huge amount of research and decided to invest in a signage franchise. I am very lucky that my extended family is supporting me with my decision. It is an ideal industry for a franchise system, because you don’t need a lot of staff, and you can build a healthy work-life balance. My research showed that a growing number of younger people are looking to invest in a franchise business, as it offers them some control over the hours they work, and they can be their own boss, whilst being supported by the franchise team to learn the ropes. At Signarama, everything is provided for franchisees, from training, a mentoring programme, to setting up their new store, showroom, and all the software and equipment, so they can also hit the ground running within several weeks of coming on board.’

Dharam added, ‘To help me grow Signarama United Kingdom, my team and I will be attending the National Franchise Exhibition on 3 and 4 October on stand J40 at the NEC in Birmingham. It is one of the biggest franchise exhibitions in the UK, so I look forward to meeting like minded entrepreneurs at our stand, who are looking to invest in a business where they can be their own boss, with the support of a global franchise network.’
