Triple bindery investment for Park Lane Press

Print Solutions

Commercial and graphic communications specialist Park Lane Press has expanded its bindery to support investment in an HP Indigo 7900 earlier this year.

The Corsham, Wiltshire, operation has invested in a 4X4 B2+ Foliant Mercury 530SF laminator, a Horizon BQ470 four clamp perfect binder and a Horizon HT30C Trimmer from Intelligent Finishing Systems.

Park Lane Press works with a broad range of clients including advertising and design agencies, marketing departments, small businesses and charities and blue chip companies. It offers waterless litho print and digital print.

Phil Sudwell, managing director, explained: ‘We wanted a system that could laminate both sides in one pass, and in particular, handle light material. We had an older laminator but it was slow and it was time to reinvest.’

Among the key benefits of the 4X4 25mpm B2+ Mercury 530SF heavy duty industrial laminating system for Park Lane Press is its tighter registration and its Heidelberg suction feeder.

As well as the laminator Park Lane Press chose a Horizon BQ-470 four clamp perfect binder for its production speed and instant make readies for runs of one. It can bind up to 65 mm (2.55”) thickness and offers fully automated set up through an intuitive icon-based LCD touchscreen.

The Horizon HT30 three side trimmer features automated job set ups and quick changeovers with the ability to store up to 40 different book jobs in its memory. It operates off line to trim perfect bound books at speeds up to 200 cycles per hour. A colour touch screen allows all set ups to be performed with full automation.

Both solutions were chosen to enhance Park Lane Press’s book production capabilities and address a bottleneck in the bindery.
