Trotec brings leading large format to the UK

Print Solutions

Trotec is to showcase the SP2000 large format laser cutter, situated at its newly revamped Guildford showroom. The SP2000 will be the first larger SP series laser available for demonstration in the UK.

The SP2000 is a smaller version of Trotec's flagship SP3000 large format laser cutter. Featuring a working area of 2510 x 1680 mm and with processing speeds up to two metres per second, the laser cutter is the ultimate tool for processing large format materials and applications, ranging from print and cut, acrylics for signage, plastic laminates for display, technical textiles, woods and more.

Alongside the expected Trotec benefits such as UK support and premium machine build, the SP2000 has a wide range of exclusive features that make it stand out in a busy large format laser market. Unlike similarly sized machines, it is a class 2 laser, with the laser beam path completely covered along its working path, negating the requirement for additional safety measures and training.

The ergonomic design of the laser, which is open to all four sides, allows operators to effortlessly load and unload materials and the Tandem Assist feature enables the working area to be virtually split into two zones, allowing the operator to load and unload materials in one area while the laser processes materials in another.

To optimise the finished quality of the laser cut, the laser head is fitted with an exhaust which removes dust and smoke from the material surface during processing. It is fast and easy to achieve a flame polished edge on acrylic up to 40 mm thickness depending on laser power, without any additional processing. The SP2000 also offers unrivalled cutting quality, with up to 1g acceleration speeds.

For maximum operator protection, a moving light curtain and safety bumpers are mounted onto the moving ‘x’ axes and the machine will automatically stop if this safety zone is entered. To reduce disruption, the job can be restarted from the same position thanks to the handy resume function.

Martin Horne, managing director of Trotec Laser UK, said: ‘We are delighted to be able to offer a machine of the SP2000's calibre at our Guildford showroom.

‘With UK businesses being under pressure to improve productivity and optimise profitability, there is no better time to consider the addition of laser technology to either replace or complement existing processes in the production environment.

‘We welcome any business with an interest in laser cutting technology to attend our showroom for a personalised product tour and demonstration.’
