Heidelberg UK partnered with the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts 2025, specifically supporting the Glastonbury Free Press.

The festival’s newspaper is printed in the Free Press section, on a vintage 1950s seven tonne Heidelberg Cylinder Press. The sight and sound of the letterpress machine drew thousands of visitors, including children and Fleet Street veterans. And from today's digital-first vantage point, it was a fascinating reminder of the rich history and craftsmanship of the print industry and Heidelberg.
As part of this partnership, the company announced an apprenticeship opportunity for a young person nominated by Glastonbury Festival Events Ltd and its partners. The response was enthusiastic, with around one hundred festivalgoers registering to receive information about the programme.
The selected apprentice will receive comprehensive training as a printing machine engineer, gaining hands-on experience with equipment and techniques across Heidelberg’s UK operations. Upon successful completion of the programme, a job offer may be made, subject to availability of a suitable role.

Managing director Ryan Miles commented, ‘It is inspiring to see part of our Heidelberg tradition and heritage being appreciated by so many people, and more so that it is the basis for encouraging the next generation to join our fantastic industry and company. This year has been special as we celebrate our 175 year anniversary, and the blend of history and future was truly fitting for such an occasion.’
