Soabar’s invests in AccurioLabel 230 digital press

Label Solutions Print Solutions

Soabar Ltd has invested in an AccurioLabel 230 press from Konica Minolta. It replaces two previous AccurioLabel 190 presses to ensure its essential digital print capability, whilst seamlessly incorporating into the company’s multi-technology print mix and freeing up space for expansion.

Soabar’s AccurioLabel 230 offers full flexibility to cater for different types and sizes of customer jobs with a quick turnaround time. Working perfectly in tandem with the company’s inkjet and flexo solutions, the easy to set up and fast to use AccurioLabel 230 is very well placed to handle its short run and quick turnaround jobs, freeing up its inkjet press for longer run work. Robert Gallagher, production director, commented, ‘The AccurioLabel 230 perfectly addresses these requirements, fits very well with our operational needs, and illustrates exactly why we needed a combined multi-technology approach.’

The long standing relationship between the two companies was cemented through the successful utilisation of a pair of AccurioLabel 190 digital label presses at its site in Whetstone, Leicester. The arrival of digital print had already helped the company to grow its business, so it was clear that this vital facet needed to be preserved. However, it also needed to accommodate an additional inkjet press within the limited space available, so Soabar turned to Konica Minolta to find the right digital print solution upgrade.

Phil Achurch, Managing Director, commented: ‘Based upon our previous experiences of working with Konica Minolta we would happily have sourced our inkjet labels solution from them too had one been available. However, we were still adamant that we wanted to upgrade our digital solution through the company to replace the excellent AccurioLabel 190s. With its increased speed and enhanced flexibility in terms of substrates and applications, a single AccurioLabel 230 has perfectly replaced the previous pair of presses without any compromises on performance or output levels. This is all delivered in a smaller physical footprint, which has obvious advantages in a production facility with finite space available.’

The AccurioLabel 230 ensures samples are quick and efficient to supply to customers, and the ability to use variable data processing has proven to be a particularly valuable feature of the solution, delivering versatility in jobs without unnecessarily slowing the process down. Due to this flexibility, the company is primarily using the press for chemicals and food labelling applications, delivering high quality results on the applicable materials.

Robert stated, ‘The AccurioLabel 230 serves us very well and has opened new revenue streams for Soabar. It is a proven technology that has been adapted to narrow web and delivers impressive speed, as well as an attractive price point, and value for money. There is also a clear costing structure through the click charge (with no hidden costs), which makes it much easier to price up jobs.’

Soabar is now extending its building and production capacity as Phil explained, ‘We are planning to further consolidate our offering, with a dedicated digital production area and investments in both hardware and software, including the Label Traxx software to manage our business from order entry through to invoicing. Undoubtedly working with Konica Minolta and its digital solutions has changed how things are done and fits in well with our new background infrastructure, enabling us to offer even more flexibility and service to our customers moving forwards.’
